eCall Association Webinar on 30. January 2020 on 2:30 pm CET
January 30 @ 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm
At the eCall Days 2019 in special presentations, the eCall community exchanged experiences in the European countries and discussed questions such as: What happens in areas that are not covered by 2G/3G or 4G? How do we ensure the interoperability of eCall between different stakeholders?
Which special requirements apply to agricultural and forestry vehicles? How are false emergency calls prevented? In particular, questions of how the joint work on eCall can be organised after the sAFE project, and which aspects of content are to be addressed most urgently, were in the foreground.
Finally the community agreed on the need of a sustainable organisational structure to support and organise future eCall activities.
Self-regulated industrial associations such as the Internet of Things Consortium or the CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium could serve as a role model for the suggested eCall Association.
It would push forward the eCall stakeholders for future development and standardisation activities through workshops, conferences and working groups and connect them with the European Commission.
It should provide a continuous framework for solving technical, political and organisational problems, developing harmonised procedures and working as a common interest group for a continuous dialogue with policy makers.
The suggestion was met with much approval among the eCall community. As part of the sAFE project (Aftermarket eCall for Europe), the idea of an eCall Association shall be further developed. To include the whole eCall community to consider all relevant needs,
ITS mobility organise two workshops in 2020. The first one will be a virtual webinar and the second one a physical meeting in Brussels. The results of these workshops will be presented at the eCall Days 2020.
